HOW WASA!® SNEAKED OUT

The birth of WASA!®

WASA!® was developed in Nelson to celebrate the creative inspiration that abounds here.

The WASA!® PHILOSOPHY is that creativity and expression is healthy and it is for everyone. It is the foundation of community happiness, wellbeing, inspiration, joy, balance and prosperity.

The festival concept has been developed by Nickola Blunt, life coach and business woman, Craig Wilson, tourism advisor and trainer; and Alison Rae, artist, author and visionary.

The WASA!® festival concept unfolded with a flourish over a cup of fierce home brewed Chai and led to a series of flowing discussions, plenty of laughter and the development of a business plan. It has now evolved into a new company with a group of people keen to see Nelson’s creativity grow even further.

“We are extremely grateful to the Nelson Events Marketing and Development Sponsorship Fund for assisting us to let this event sneak/get off the ground. Without this assistance it would be so much more difficult start an event.

We also acknowledge and thank all the generous people who have assisted with the development of WASA!
® to date. Their unique strands of knowledge, skills and support have been invaluable and continue to add great value to the WASA!® concept and vision.”

Nickola Blunt, WASA!® Director

Quote:
“At last we have some farsighted people in Nelson who recognise that the time has arrived

to celebrate and yahoo the very real fact that it’s time we hailed, applauded, lauded,

the essence of what makes Nelson truly special. Its’ Creative People.

What is truly magnificent and timely about this project is that it is to be done from the

place of quirky fun and loads of laughter. At a time when many feel burdened by the

economic situation and the fear factor which pervades our newspapers and viewing media every day

– here in WASA!® is going to be generated the living and lasting proof of the wonderfully

humorous, artistic, heartfelt essence that speaks from the people of Nelson.”
